Ruth first came to the Yonge and Bloor centre more than twenty years ago. Ruth had enjoyed a busy career in the broadcasting industry, but in the years after her retirement, she had become very isolated. Ruth developed a significant mobility issue and had very few friends and family, and as a result, she lived alone with many pets and rarely left her home.
After hearing about Sunshine Centres through an acquaintance, Ruth began attending our programs at our Yonge and Bloor centre. Her outgoing and fun personality quickly made Ruth a favourite among staff and other program participants, and she has developed many friendships over the years at Sunshine Centres. Ruth can always be counted on to join in with crafts, activities and outings, and is one of our most active and dedicated participants.
