Sarah has been involved with Sunshine Centres and attended Camp Sunshine for over fifteen years. When she first visited Camp Sunshine, Sarah had been suffering from depression, had limited mobility due to an injury, and was socially isolated. Her family was supportive of Sarah attending the program, and encouraged her to attend every week.
Sarah found a home in Camp Sunshine. She had been searching for a community with friends and conversations, but her depression left her with very low energy and drive. She was very relieved to be able to attend Camp Sunshine and participate in programs at her own comfort and ability level, without feeling any sense of pressure. She appreciated being able to help out if she felt like it, or simply just relax and enjoy being by the lake and in the gardens. The sense of relaxation, freedom and socialization that Sarah gained through the program has become very important to her. Sarah continues to attend Camp Sunshine and has become an integral member of the Sunshine Centres community.
